Year 5 and Year 6 - Reading Plus update.

We are very pleased to have received an update today on how our Year 5 and Year 6 children are progressing on the Reading Plus scheme. 

Year 5 have:

-          Collectively read 1,456,786 words!

-          Achieved an average of 61 completed reading lessons

-          Achieved an average Reading Rate Gain of 50 WPM;

-          Achieved an average Level Gain of 2.1 levels (1 level gain = an increase in readability of texts of 1 year).

 

Year 6 have:

-          Collectively read 1,877,256 words!

-          Achieved an average of 54 completed reading lessons

-          Achieved an average Reading Rate Gain of 52 WPM;

-          Achieved an average Level Gain of 2.3 levels (1 level gain = an increase in readability of texts of 1 year).

 

This is fantastic news and evidence that daily reading REALLY works! Please continue to encourage your children to read at home for at least 30 minutes per day using the Reading Plus resource (as they have been doing in school).  We can monitor their progress remotely and message the children with encouragement and support through the website.
